What to Expect at Your First Visit

Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We’ll spend time discussing your concerns, medical and personal history, and what you hope to achieve from care. This information helps me create a treatment plan tailored specifically to your needs.

Because this initial session is more detailed than follow-ups, it usually runs longer. I recommend setting aside 1–2 hours so we have enough time to explore your story thoroughly. If you prefer a shorter session, we can adjust and aim to complete it in less time.

Follow-Up Appointments

Follow-up consultations are usually shorter and more focused. These sessions are designed to monitor your progress, adjust medications when needed, and provide continued support through therapy and coping strategies. The length of a follow-up can vary depending on your needs, typically lasting anywhere from a few minutes to up to one hour.

Intake Forms & Confidentiality

  • Before your first appointment, you will likely need to complete an intake form with some background information.

  • Everything we discuss is confidential and protected by medical ethics and the laws of Trinidad and Tobago.

  • Information is only shared if required by law (e.g., safety concerns) or with your written consent.

 Treatment Approach

Treatment may include:

  • Therapy – supportive therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques.

  • Medication – as part of care only when needed, and always with close clinical monitoring.

  • Holistic Care – lifestyle and dietary measures may also be recommended.

  • Psychoeducation – empowering you with knowledge about your condition and recovery.

Fees & Payment

  • Payment is due at the time of consultation.

  • Accepted methods: – cash, bank transfer, card via WiPay and PayPal

  • Medical certificates and reports can be provided upon request (additional fees may apply).

Booking and Cancellation Policy

To keep things simple and secure, all appointments are confirmed once full payment is received.

When you book, your appointment will be reserved for up to 72 hours while payment or proof of payment is submitted. If payment is not received within that time, the slot will automatically become available for others to book.

Once payment is completed, your session is confirmed and reserved exclusively for you.

Some services, such as ADHD or capacity assessments and reports, require full payment in advance. Because of the preparation involved, these are non-refundable once the process has started.

I understand that life can be unpredictable. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice.

Cancellations made with:

  • More than 48 hours’ notice: You can either reschedule to another day, or request a refund (minus a small 5% processing fee). Your reschedule must be within 30 days.

  • Less than 48 hours’ notice or if you miss the appointment: 50% of your fee will be kept to cover the reserved time, and the other 50% will be refunded.

  • Emergencies happen — if something urgent comes up, just reach out. I’ll review these situations on a case-by-case basis with compassion.

Late Arrival Policy
Please make every effort to arrive on time for your scheduled appointment. If you arrive late, your session may be shortened so that the next patient is not delayed.

Up to 15 minutes late → The session will proceed, but will end at the original scheduled time.

More than 15 minutes late → The appointment may need to be rescheduled and may be treated as a late cancellation or missed appointment, which could incur a fee.

Consistent punctuality helps ensure you get the most benefit from your care and allows me to respect the time of all patients. Exceptions may be considered in the case of genuine emergencies.

Care Options

You may choose the type of consultation that suits you best:

  • Private In-Office Appointments (confidential setting)

  • Telepsychiatry / Virtual Consultations (secure online sessions from home or abroad)

  • Home Visits (available in Tobago by appointment, for elderly, mobility challenges, or confidentiality preference)

Family & Caregiver Involvement

With your consent, I also offer sessions with family members or caregivers to help them understand your condition and learn supportive strategies.
